In addition, the author has liberally spread throughout the book useful tips and fixes for common situations and problems. In short, buy this book! I am a college student currently studying animation at school.

I decided to look for a book that would not only serve as an easy reference for any questions but also one that would teach me new techniques and ways of exploring maya.

This book does an excellent job!!! The explanations are real clear and most of them have tutorials or exercises to do simultaneously with the reading that really help to put all the terms and new ideas in practice.

The book also starts from the most basic steps such as using the hyper graph to more complicated stuff like simple animations. In general A total buy!! However, if You've never used maya before I would recommend first buying the Introduction to Maya book also by Eric Keller. I have only used Maya for about 5 Months at time of writing this review, and bought this book about 1.

I first followed 'Learning Autodesk Maya ' which was a horrible book, but nevertheless I still completed it. I don't know why, being a beginner I bought this book - I was satisfied. This review is not from a perspective of a veteran however I still learnt a lot from this massive textbook. I have not went through everything in the book yet however I can safely say, any Maya users definitely should buy this book whether you're starting off, veteran, etc. The Table of Contents is highly detailed so if you do not want to go page by page the detailed ToC will lead you to where you want.

To conclude, ANY Maya users must buy this book! If this review does not facilitate your decision, then read the other reviews. A satisfied and happy customer. Because some instructions are hard to understand. For this reason I will rate it 4 stars, an update from my previous 5 stars.

What can you do about this? I do know the kindle edition of the book has coloured pictures Go sample them at Google Books or somewhere Well, it really depends if you want ebook or hardcopy, or even both. This book was the best purchase I have made yet, the book has allot of detail, and you can even go to the chapters and begin learning where you want to. The book was well worth the money! This book is very well worth the money. Luckily Autodesk hasn't made any drastic UI changes in the past few releases, so you can rest assure that if you learn everything in here, the information will stay valid for quite some time.

At a third of the price for the book, this is a must buy for any Maya fan. Awesome for getting to dive right into to maya and understanding a pipeline! This book got me out of a lot of trouble! I've been using Maya for eight years and picked this up to brush up on new features and learn some new tricks.

It was worth every penny! Everything is clearly written, demonstrated the features thoroughly and left me feeling confident I can use the tools creatively. Can't ask for much more than that. See all reviews. Similar sponsored items.
